The resources and information on this page are Crisis Lifelines and Support Groups.


If you are feeling suicidal or may be concerned about someone else, these resources are available. You can also call 911 or visit your local emergency room.

SUPPORT GROUPS 

There are many support groups available which may be structured in a variety of ways: An Open group where participants connect with each other and share their experiences. A Guided group where participants will be guided through a plan of activities. Some support groups are offered on-line, in-person or both (on-line and in person). 


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Connection offers individual and family support groups, weekly meetings, virtual and in-person (in your neighborhood) support groups.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) offers multiple support groups that meet weekly, on line or in-person.

Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) is an international nonprofit organization that offers on-line and in-person support group forums and discussions about depression and anxiety.

7 Cups offers support groups for specific populations, such as LGBTQIA+, teens, and caregivers. They also offer one-on-one chats and discussion forums on depression.

Mental Health America (MHA) offers on-line support groups, webinars, and forums for co-occurring mental health concerns.

Heypeers (Previously known as Postpartum Support International) offers on-line support groups 5 days a week that focus on postpartum depression, infant loss, and postpartum psychosis. They also offer support groups for a variety of populations, such as Trans Parents, fathers, military parents, individuals who speak Spanish, and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).

Community Grief Support offers Grief Support Groups that focus on loss of spouse (employable age), loss of spouse (retired age), loss of adult child, loss of parent, grandparent, and sibling, and general loss (All types of losses). They also provide community grief education.

Birmingham On-Demand powered by Via is an on-demand public mobility services for residents in the city of Birmingham. The program service riders for a flat rate fee of $1.50 Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to specific service zones. The program also provides accessible vehicles for riders with disabilities.

Alcoholics Anonymous offers in-person, on-line and telephone meetings for individuals recovering from alcohol use.
